ABOUT

I’m a New York based multimedia journalist currently working at NBC News and passionate about reporting and producing innovative, explanatory news, consumer and lifestyle media. Currently I work as a researcher for TODAY, Weekend, where I produce news, politics, pop culture and consumer segments for the weekend shows, update social media on the weekends and help with whatever’s needed to get the show on air. You can view some of my work here. In addition to reporting, producing and editing, I’m interested in innovating new ways to package, distribute and monetize content across platforms and engaging with audiences and consumers.

Prior to working at NBC, I reported for NBC affiliate KOMU-TV8, where I shot, wrote and edited stories, anchored and reported live. You can view some of my work here. I have also reported, produced and edited content for multiple broadcast, print and digital entities including NPR affiliate KBIA-FM, the Columbia Missourian newspaper, NBC’s Daily Connection and Discovery.com. I’ve reported on location at the Winter Olympics, live-blogged city-wide budget deliberations, reported election results live from the field for TV and radio and have written concert previews, artist reviews and magazine features. I’m up for covering anything and am especially interested in politics, health and consumer issues.

I graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism with a degree in media convergence and have had the chance to learn and grow as a journalist with fellowships from the International Radio-Television Society, the Association of Health Care Journalists and the Peter Jennings Project. On a research level, I’ve done work exploring the successes and missteps in using mobile media production methods for journalism and presented those findings with a colleague at the RTDNA/NAB convention. I believe that media can and should inform, reflect and at times positively influence humanity and I aim to do work that reflects those values. I also think being part of the social and cultural conversation online and keeping tabs on what’s now and what’s next is part of the key to “getting it right.”

In addition to New York, I’ve lived in Ohio, Mississippi, Illinois, Georgia and Missouri. If you’d like to get in touch, please email me at erica@ericazucco.com.
