I’m Erica, an Emmy award-winning storyteller and results-focused strategic communicator with 15+ years of experience planning, creating, and tracking engagement for cross-platform content.

I’m passionate about public service and believe our role as communicators is to make complex information clear, to ensure everyone has the tools they need to access the services we provide and the policymaking processes that shape our lives, and to tell stories that weave together the work of both government and community action. My background includes 15 years of experience both telling stories that capture the best of us, and projecting clear messaging during crisis situations. I’m a planner and a doer — equally excited about big-picture, data-driven strategic communications planning and the day-to-day shooting, editing, and creation of content.
Prior to working in government, I worked as a multimedia journalist and producer, most recently reporting on environmental issues and daily news for KING 5 (NBC) Seattle. There, I covered toxic pollution, invasive species and the impacts of climate change, along with reporting on location during historic floods, landslides, wildfires and winter storms. I also worked as a multimedia journalist in San Antonio and Albuquerque, where I covered politics, policy, disaster response, breaking news and features about daily life. I began my career producing segments and social media content for NBC’s TODAY Show.
I studied media convergence, strategic communications and reporting at the Missouri School of Journalism and earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Texas A&M International University, with a focus on leadership in communications.
