educational & informational content
People connect best with complex information when it’s weaved together with emotion, authentic moments and impacts to real people. I have extensive experience telling stories about complicated research, scientific developments, environmental issues and healthcare trends. My specialties include coaching experts to feel comfortable enough to tell their own stories with personality and warmth, and using compelling visuals to drive messages home.
social video
Social video must be platform specific — and I’ve spent a decade crafting content for different mediums as they developed. Moving from Tumblr and Xanga to Twitter and Facebook and now, primarily to Instagram and TikTok, I have a natural sense of what’s shareable and how to drive the right kind of engagement. It’s important to make many of these videos simple and get them out in a timely manner. Below are simple social clips that helped drive clicks to our KING 5 coverage; each received several thousand views from unique users.
narrative storytelling
A decade of work in broadcast and documentary journalism has given me a front-row seat to history. I’ve shot video during wildfires, blizzards, championship games and protests. But telling a story through video is about more than getting the shot. It’s about connecting with people — making them comfortable enough to share their hopes, dreams, wins and losses. Here are two EMMY award-winning stories from KING 5 (NBC) Seattle and KENS 5 (CBS) San Antonio, and a piece featured on KING’s award-winning Best of Photojournalism entry.
